Welcome to our EVS Project, which will be developed in Żory, Poland. This project is planned for 4 participants from different countries, previously selected, who will develop this volunteer experience through our organization.This project is organized by Żory Municipal Public Library (Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna w Żorach) and co-funded by the European Solidarity Corps Program. DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTITUTION
Zory Municipal Public Library is a very dynamic place in the city. We recognize and fulfil educational and cultural needs of the local community. We are an institution of social confidence, with strong influence on society. We want our readers to use not only books or magazines, but also to take part in a self-development and self-realization processes, through all forms of activities the library offers them. We perform regular activities such as educational meetings, discussion panels, poetry evenings and meetings with cultural key figures. For those who like films, there is a movie club. We organize literature, poetry and photography workshops and contests, as well. We are very proud of various regular exhibitions held in the library galleries. To meet our customers’ needs and accompany their social life, the library organizes and takes part in various educational projects aimed at people of different ages having peculiar demands. We are taking part in the “Digital Poland of Equal Opportunities” programme, which focuses on digital education of grown-up Poles in their local environment. We lead the Local Coding Club where young people can learn a lot about new technologies. We carry out many national and international projects. One of them is an voluntary project called CreativeSpace@Library that we have been implementing since 2016. People love our library and visit it with pleasure.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The aim of the CreativeSpace@Library project is encouraging initiative, creativity and active participation of youth in public and cultural life, as well as expertise-based development of our library. This will create an opportunity to broaden our cultural offer with new activities, guaranteeing growing interest in European cultural diversity - and the library - among the locals. The project enables and encourages young people to play an active role in their local communities, first in Poland, and then in their homeland. The project helps develop solidarity, tolerance and responsibility, promotes European diversity in an attractive manner, and teaches respect for it, permitting young people from different societies to carry out common actions, creating broad possibilities of intercultural learning.
We have a pleasure to invite a great talented volunteer for long-term volunteering. We act on many fields connected with culture and education. Our volunteers lead their own workshops, especially for children and youth, but also for adults. So we expect strong motivated to work, active and creative volunteers having interesting hobbies, talented in the field of art, music, dance, photography, movie-making, handicraft etc. We also welcome people with IT skills such as programming, 3d modeling, VR, robotics, etc. (Our library is great equipped - we have robots, drons, VR gogle, video camera and much more, and proper software.) Who wants can lead language lessons. If somebody has marketing or graphic designer skills we can invite her/him to cooperate with our marketing team.
Lending books is not the responsibility of our volunteers!
Our volunteers should use English on a communicative level to avoid communication problems.
NECESSARY CONDITION This offer applies to European Union members only!
WHAT WE OFFER?
- work in a dynamic cultural institution in an international team (other volunteers are from Algeria, Armenia and France),
- 35 hour work week (in the afternoon and evening),
- accommodation in a good equipped, modern and comfortable apartment in the city center (large living room, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, TV and access to the internet ),
- money for food,
- pocket money (4€/day),
- free public transport in our city
- librarians support.
This volunteering project will run approximately 6-7 months, if possible starting from 17th of October 2019 and ending on the (+/-) 30th of April 2020.
Travel costs will be cover according to the grant given by ESC for the travel from the sending country to the hosting country (275€ or 360€ for return ticket).
It will be processed, combined with the sending organization, an insurance to cover such an eventuality that may arise during the project. On the other hand, the European Health Insurance Card must be required to the volunteer, which gives entitlement to medical care in the hosting country in case of emergency or any setback.
A Youthpass certifying the learning experience as well as the functions and skills developed during the project will be issued by the library.
